The Website Project

The setting up and organisation of a website featuring a representative sample of the most remarkable sites and artefacts of major historical relevance and cultural identity of the Maltese islands, has been one of the primary aims and raison d’etre of this foundation.

The list was selected in collaboration with all the members of the board including the late Dr Tancred Gouder. The critical apparatus appearing side-by-side with the image was prepared conjointly by Ms Therese Vella and Mr Dennis Vella. Editing, design and overall project organisation was coordinated by Mr Jevon Vella. Database design and programming of web pages were co-ordinated and developed by Mr Noel Zammit and Mr Duncan Abela of the ICT Department of the Heritage Malta – Malta Centre for Restoration, whereas project management was entrusted to Ms Izabella Parowicz of the same centre. Hosting of the website is the responsibility of Terranet Ltd. namely, Mr Gordon Dimech and his staff.

This site makes readily available a humble selection of our remarkable cultural heritage to all Maltese, locally and abroad, indeed to all and sundry on the web. The number of sites and artefacts accessible on the website is limited, but it is envisaged that the site will be further updated in due time.
